News and Updates

ADULT PROGRAMS - VACCINATION UPDATE - September 15th

Alberta has declared a state of public health emergency. COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to rise, largely in unvaccinated Albertans. New measures to protect the health care system, stop the spread, and increase vaccination rates come into effect starting September 16.

Starting September 16, fitness facilities must implement the Restrictions Exemption Program requiring proof of vaccination or negative rapid test result to continue operating as usual.
All visitors (ages 12 and over) must provide one of the following to enter City Fit Shop.

  • proof of vaccination
    • single dose accepted between September 20 and October 25 if received 2 weeks before time of service
    • double doses required after October 25
  • documentation of a medical exemption
  • proof of a privately-paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of service (tests from AHS or Alberta Precision Laboratories not allowed)

NEXT STEPS FOR YOU

  • Members only have to show proof of vaccination once and it will be saved on their account.
  • For those who are not medically eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, we will accept a medical exemption doctor’s note stating that you should not be vaccinated.
These measures will be in place for the foreseeable future and we ask for your patience as we transition to this new system over the next few days. Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.

COVID MEASURES UPDATE - August 1st

With the provincial government announcing the recent full re-opening we wanted to share what that means for City Fit Shop.

We will no longer require masks for patrons. You can of course wear one and encourage you to do what you feel safe doing but it won't be mandatory.

We are re-implementing 60 minute classes in a phased approach. We will still be ensuring all equipment is cleaned before being put away but will not require the 10 minute wait period any longer.

Staff will also no longer have to wear masks. They too can choose to wear one but we will not be requiring it.

We will not be mandating vaccinations for either patrons or staff. Though we do encourage everyone to get their vaccination we are following the AHS guidelines which currenlty does not require vaccinations to be a condition of employment or requirement to enter into a business.

We will start re-implementing classes programmed without the mandatory 3m distances. We will still strongly encourage keeping a safe distance from other patrons but will not be using boxes for all our classes. This again will be in a phased approach.

SHOWERS ARE OPEN!!

You can use the fountain again!!

High fives allowed again... Only if you want... :)

And... please feel free to hang out and help rebuild our amazing community... No get in get out policy! That was my least favourite.

Thanks for all your support. We are super excited to be almost back to normal..

COVID MEASURES UPDATE - February 8

With the provincial government announcing the recent staged re-opening we wanted to provide an update. Only one-on-one or one-on-one household training is permitted for indoor fitness activities. We do offer limited personal training and if you would like more information please contact us at coach@cityfitshop.com. All memberships will remain suspended and punch passes extensions intact.

TEMPORARY COVID MEASURES - December 14

With the provincial government announcing the recent lockdown requirements we will be closing our doors effective Saturday December 12, 2020 at 1:00 pm. The temporary shutdown is expected to be 4 weeks in duration with the exception of a continued rise in Covid-19 cases.

Please read through to ensure you understand what is happening with your adult or kids programs, services, and memberships.

As a local Edmonton business we truly care about our community and as hard as it is to close our doors we are supportive of these measures to keep people healthy and safe.

With that we absolutely advocate that fitness is the best prevention of illness and truly hope you take advantage of our livestream classes, virtual challenges, equipment rental programs, and more.

Kids Programs

All kids memberships will be put on hold for the duration of the closure unless you indicate otherwise. Contact us if you wish to stay active with our kids livestream program at coach@cityfitshop.com

Adult Members

We will be doubling our livestream classes and including the ability to rent out equipment if needed upon availability.

If you wish to suspend please contact us at coach@cityfitshop.com and we will process the suspension free of charge once we receive your submitted suspension form.

Adult Punch Pass Holders

There is nothing you need to do. We will be extending all punch pass expirations to include the duration we are closed.

You are more than welcome to use your punch passes for our amazing livestream classes as well.
